Interior Trend: Pantone Colour Of The Year
Pantone have announced the "Colour of the year 2022" as 'Very Peri'
No, it's not Katy Perry's older sister - it's a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with "vivifying violet red" undertones.
Described as "A new Pantone color, whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity" its safe to say this new colour has a lot riding on its shoulders.
Compared to 2021's double selection of 'Ultimate' (A grey tone) and 'Illuminating' (A bright yellow tone), 'Very Peri' moves us away from neutral territory and into a more daring family of colours.
The inspiration behind this year's colour is rooted in our radically evolving post-pandemic culture, particularly the rapid merging of our physical and digital worlds. According to Pantone, the rise of the metaverse and the increasing popularity of online gaming is what's driving this new colour trend:
Well, areas we might expect to see this colour crop up are in fashion, advertising campaigns and of course, interior design. However, as 'Very Peri' is such a distinctive colour we don't anticipate it being used to colour block entire areas of the home. Instead, we see it being used as a unique accent, helping to bring a fresh touch to recently completed interior spaces.
Ways you might want to incorporate 'Very Peri' into your home could include:
-
Upholstering a special sofa in a velour or crushed velvet fabric
-
Finding 'Very Peri' coloured ornaments and showing them on open display shelving
- Strategically display purple and blue toned wall art prints on blanks walls or styled on empty surfaces
Really there's no limit to the ways you can begin to work 'Very Peri' into your home, but just remember to use it sparingly...a little will go a long way!
If you LOVE this colour and are planning on working it into your interior design then have a look at our collection of purple wall art prints. They are the perfect place to get started and there won't be an easier way to begin introducing this fresh new colour into your home in 2022.
Any guesses to what Pantone's Colour Of The Year 2023 will be?
