OUR STORY
Hi, Marcus here, co-founder of We Love Prints.
As We Love Prints is coming into it’s 3rd year, I thought it would be a great time to share the story of how we got to where we are today.
We Love Prints was born out of my love for art and how transformative it can be in our lives - especially the way it captures moments in time and connects us through shared memories and experiences. From a young age I was fascinated with the expressive arts and knew that I wanted to work in the creative industries. Although I loved the freedom and energy of painting, I didn’t know exactly what type of art form to settle on.
Fast forward a few years - I was in my final year of a music degree when I decided to pick up a paint brush and reconnect with my love of painting. Initially I started to sell small paintings and do commission work but I knew I’d have to find a way to scale things up if I wanted to pay the bills (student loans don’t last forever!). I started to sell prints at local craft markets, unaware of how things would change drastically over the next 6 months! With a growing following on Instagram and an increased demand for prints, my partner Martin joined me and we decided to set up shop as co-founders of We Love Prints.
The past three years have been a crash course in brand building with all of the accompanying opportunities and challenges. I’m so proud of our achievements in such a short space of time, and despite the setbacks of 2020-2021, I’m really excited by what the next few years will hold. I can’t say that EVERY day in the life of an artist/brand owner is an absolute joy (that would be totally dishonest!), but I am genuinely thrilled to be able to work on creative projects with my partner and my fabulously creative sister Natalie (she leads on all of the brand creative).
In 2022, we’re focusing all efforts on our mission to help people create interior spaces that are full of meaning and personality. A massive part of this will be focusing on our community of print and interior design enthusiasts - we can’t wait to get you more involved in steering the brand and helping us realise its full potential.
